Description: Housing First is a proven approach in which people experiencing homelessness are connected to permanent housing swiftly and with few to no treatment preconditions, behavioral contingencies, or other barriers. This training will teach service providers about the critical components of Housing First, as well as the history and evidence for this approach. We will review the HUD and Chicago Continuum of Care commitment to Housing First. Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss some of the challenges in implementing the Housing First approach at their agency or in their project.

Recommended Audience: Staff working in housing programs; direct service staff from any field who may interact with individuals experiencing homelessness; any community members interested in learning more about foundational principles of housing advocacy
