The cohort will complete lessons at a pace of 2 lessons per week. Each week, the cohort will join a webinar conference call to review course material and answer questions. Participation in the cohort is open to any service provider in the city of Chicago and is free of charge. Upon successful completion, all participants can receive 20 CEUs from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and will be certified to complete SOAR applications.

SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) is an evidence-based model for assisting people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in applying for public disability benefits. In 2018, SOAR had a national SSI/SSDI approval rate of 65%, compared with the non-SOAR approval rate of 10-15% for people experiencing homelessness.
