Violence Against Women Act Housing Protections and Best Practices for Providers-08.24.23

Description
This is a recording of a training that took place on Thursday, August 24th

Description: The Violence Against Women Act ("VAWA") was recently reauthorized in March of 2022, to include additional housing protections for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Join us as we review VAWA housing protections around lease bifurcation, emergency transfers, eviction protections, anti-retaliation, and confidentiality. As part of this training, we also discuss best practices to supporting survivors in need of VAWA protections, including how to draft and update emergency transfer plans and how to create safe and welcoming environments.

Recommended Audience: All staff working at housing programs specifically designated for those fleeing gender-based violence; any direct service housing providers who work with those exposed to gender-based violence

Presenter: Jaclyn Zarack Koriath and Shaunagh McGoldrick, The Network
