Lead-Based Paint: Following Regulations and Documenting Compliance

Description
This is a recording of a training that took place on January 31st, 2023

Description:Lead-based paint poses a safety hazard in homes built before 1978, resulting in an increased risk for low-income and affordable housing. The Lead Safe Housing Rule (LSHR) outlines a specific and required process for reducing the risk of lead poisoning in federally-assisted housing, including both scattered site and project-based housing. This training will provide an overview of the required steps for maintaining compliance with the LSHR. Emphasis will be placed on determining applicability and appropriately documenting lead hazard disclosure, evaluation and inspection of risk, and ongoing lead-based paint maintenance. Key definitions, available tools, and best practices for maintaining documentation will be provided. This training is geared towards ESG and CoC-funded projects and will address what should be included in participant-level file documentation and project-level policies and procedures.

Please note: This training is not intended to address how to respond to a household with an elevated blood lead level.

Recommended Audience: Program administrators, contracts staff, housing directors, any staff responsible for ensuring programs are in compliance with HUD regulations
